The new album is finished.
It has been a tedious process, but really necessary, in part because it was a valuable lesson in patience. We've really got a knack for learning things the hard way: we write, rewrite, record, rearrange, re-record, scrap, and repeat (the stuff you should really take care of before you even THINK about going into a studio and cutting your album). Some songs were recorded as many as four times. The songs that remain are easily our best. We think that this new music will affect you in a positive, real way. It feels great to have a renewed excitement about the band.
As you follow the band in the months ahead, there will be a few big changes. If you haven't noticed the new guy on stage, take a closer look (to the left); that's Greg. With a fifth musician in the mix, the songs are sounding increasingly true to the recordings, which is something we dig. In addition to a better live show, you may also notice a revamped website and MySpace, and new piles of merch, including some fresh t-shirt designs.
Here's the thing: neither the website, the myspace, or the t-shirts will say In Reverent Fear on them. Why? You guessed it (Actually, lots of you already know, so your guesses doesn't count). We're changing the band name. We've been considering this for a while now and, listening to the new record top to bottom, it makes a whole lot of sense. The lineup, the songs, and the vibe are all brand new, just like a new band, so now feels like the right time to start fresh with a new name.
We put our heads together and decided on something that is simple. We've adopted our previous album's title as our new band name: Stomacher. That's right. The band's new name is Stomacher.
We've got a new album coming out this Summer titled "Sentimental Education." It's the best thing we've ever done. You can get it at our Bay Area CD release show, being held at Slim's in SF, on Friday August 7th.
<3,
Stomacher
